Every summer, the Seaport Ferry in South Norwalk carries hundreds of hungry passengers to the historic 1868 Sheffield Island Lighthouse for the Norwalk Seaport Association's famous Thursday Clambakes. This scientific competition open to current high school students (grades 9 - 12) in all Greenwich schools highlights the top projects on view to the public from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. CT Trails Day - Westport - Educational Walk

12:30 - 1:30 pm. Join us for a Discover Sherwood Island Archaeology Walk on the new History Trail, led by Archaeologist Cece Saunders. The walk will include points of interest, terrain, examining the traces of past inhabitants of the the island from 1000 B.C. to the 1940's. Leader Cece will share findings from recent excavations, including Native American, early settlers and onion farmers. Along the trail, various sites will be described and examined, and various artifacts, maps, old photos, and recent recoveries will be used to bring the island's past inhabitants to life.
